Hotel Spinelli

We took a room for 7 nights with a child in late August. The staff are very pleasant, the breakfast hall is a good size and the breakfast is ok for a 3 star hotel. I would have given 4 stars for our stay but the biggest flaw is within the room. There are absolutely no hooks on the bathroom doors or shelving for toiletries in the bathroom. nothing. Nowhere to hang towels, or shaving gear or coat hooks anywhere. There's no balcony so these basic fittings are absolutely required. I would suggest that this is a short stay 3 day hotel , like a Barcelona, and not 7 day booking with a child. Viareggio is a captivating vibrant city with gorgeous Deco and Art Nouveau architecture and heritage Lidos and good restaurants. Matt, London

Albergo Spinelli is a three-stars hotel located in Viareggio, just 5 minutes walk from the pier and the promenade. The first impression is not very good due to the slightly ugly façade and the small hall but outside there is a lovely garden with palm trees, a gazebo, a swing, tables and chairs for guests. The rooms are very clean and simply furnished, in the bathrooms there are lots of towels and scented soap. The only flaw in the room was humidity, but it went away easily opening the large windows. The rooms are equipped with air conditioning, minibar, telephone and TV. I didn't try the restaurant because on Sunday it's closed. But I tried breakfast, it was really good and there was everything: croissants, jams, chocolate, bread, eggs, yogurt, cereals and many other things. Inside the hotel there is a bar open 24 hours a day and in the morning the staff prepared us delicious coffee and cappuccinos. For a three-stars hotel it's quite cheap, close to shops and restaurants, with a good breakfast and it's very clean. I recommend it to those who don't need a luxury hotel and to those who is all day at the beach or around Viareggio.

We arrived from Pisa to the hotel and were pleasantly surprised. The welcome was cordial and gave us the feeling that we had arrived home We had dinner at the hotel which was very good.
